Pakistan Army Airstrikes in Paktika; Fayiq: Islamabad Violated International Law
Bayan News – Nasir Ahmad Fayiq, Afghanistan’s acting representative to the United Nations, has stated that Pakistan’s army committed a blatant violation of international law by conducting airstrikes in Barmal District of Paktika Province.
On Wednesday evening (December 25), Fayiq wrote on Platform X: “We strongly condemn these attacks, regardless of their justification, including claims of combating terrorism.”
The acting Afghan UN representative further noted that the Afghan people have long suffered from terrorism, whether from terrorist groups or their state sponsors.
According to him, there can be no distinction between a “good terrorist” and a “bad terrorist,” emphasizing that “terrorism in all its forms and manifestations must be universally condemned and combated.”
The Pakistan army’s airstrikes in Barmal District, Paktika Province, have sparked widespread reactions.
The caretaker government, Afghan political figures, and social media users have described this act by Pakistan as a blatant violation of Afghanistan’s national sovereignty.
The Ministry of Defense of the caretaker government has warned that this unilateral action by Pakistan’s military will not go unanswered.
Nevertheless, the airstrikes in Paktika Province by Pakistan’s military have reportedly killed at least 46 people, including women and children, and destroyed many residential homes.
Although Pakistan’s military has not commented on the incident, international media, citing security sources from Pakistan, reported that the strikes targeted fighters affiliated with the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
