Tensions Between Kabul and Islamabad: Muttaqi Says, “We Will Not Forget Pakistan’s Aggression”

Bayan News – Amir Khan Muttaqi, the acting Foreign Minister of the interim government, referred to the Pakistani army’s airstrikes in Paktika province, stating that neither Islamabad’s goodwill nor its aggression will be forgotten.

Speaking on Thursday (December 26) during a ceremony marking the anniversary of the Soviet Red Army’s invasion of Afghanistan, Muttaqi addressed the Pakistani government, saying:

“Soviet rulers should consult, look at the history of the British, and see the fate of the U.S. and NATO in Afghanistan.”

The senior official of the interim government added: “This is no act of valor—killing a few children, women, and elderly, and destroying their homes. This is not bravery. This is not manhood. These are the same people of Waziristan whose homes you destroyed ten years ago.”

Muttaqi called on the people and politicians of Pakistan to prevent certain individuals and groups from playing with their destiny and undermining regional security.

Confirmation by Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Meanwhile, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, the spokesperson for Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, confirmed during a press conference on Thursday (December 26) that these airstrikes were part of military operations conducted in border areas.

The spokesperson stated: “Intelligence-based operations were carried out by Pakistan in the border areas of Afghanistan.”

She added that these actions were undertaken to counter “threats to the security of Pakistani citizens.”

Pakistani military jets bombed four areas in the Barmal district of Paktika on Tuesday night. According to the interim government, these airstrikes targeted Waziristani refugees, killing several individuals, including women and children. The Taliban reported that the Pakistani bombings caused 46 fatalities.
