US diplomats: Women’s education and employment are a matter of stability for Afghanistan and the region.
In commemoration of International Women’s Day, US special envoys for Afghanistan have stated in a message that the issue of women and their participation in public life is a matter of stability for Afghanistan and the region.
Thomas West wrote on Sunday morning (March 9) on the X platform: “Today, on the occasion of International Women’s Day, we honor the tireless efforts and courage of Afghan women and girls to secure their rights to education, work, support their families, and participate in public life. These are issues of stability for Afghanistan and the region.”
Rina Amiri also stated on March 8 that she respects the courage of Afghan women and girls in defending their rights against extremist orders.
She once again expressed concern that if the international community does not stand by Afghan women, the rights of all women everywhere are at risk.
International Women’s Day comes to Afghanistan at a time when women and girls in this country have been deprived of their basic rights, such as education and employment, for the past two years.
Despite international efforts to persuade the Taliban, these efforts have not only been fruitless but have also resulted in multiple directives over time to restrict women.
However, the Taliban considers the issue of women and girls as an internal matter and consistently asks the international community not to intervene in this regard.
