Bayan News – Bakhtyar Saeedov, the Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan, arrived in Kabul on Tuesday, March 12, leading a high-level delegation and met with senior officials.
The Uzbekistan Foreign Minister held talks with Taliban Prime Minister Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, the Deputy Minister of Economy, and several other Taliban cabinet ministers.
The Uzbekistan Foreign Minister stated that his country has always emphasized good relations and brotherhood between the two nations, and Tashkent believes that Afghanistan should not be left isolated.
Saeedov stated that Uzbekistan is interested in collaborating with the Taliban on all important issues, particularly in the implementation of projects in economic, agricultural, and power generation areas, sharing their own experiences.
This high-ranking Uzbek official also expressed that the country is interested in investing in the establishment of a cement factory, coal extraction, and a 200-megawatt power generation project from coal.
Meanwhile, the Taliban Prime Minister added that despite the many challenges Afghanistan has faced in recent decades, the relations between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan have remained positive. This senior Taliban official assured that the Taliban government is ready to cooperate in the implementation of economic projects.
Official Transfer of the Afghan Embassy in Tashkent to the Taliban
On the other hand, the Uzbekistan Foreign Minister informed the Taliban Deputy Minister of Economy in a meeting that in the near future, the Afghan embassy in Tashkent will be officially handed over to the Taliban.
The Uzbekistan Foreign Minister emphasized in his speech that his country is working to strengthen and expand economic and political relations between the two nations through the embassy transfer.
However, most diplomatic representations of Afghanistan in regional countries have been handed over to the Taliban, and according to the published statistics, more than 15 countries have delivered Afghan embassies to the Taliban.
Despite this, regional countries and Afghanistan’s neighbors do not officially recognize the Taliban government.
