Iranian official: The process of deporting unauthorized Afghan migrants has tripled
Bayan News – Iranian officials have announced that in the past month, the process of deporting unauthorized Afghan migrants from Tehran, the capital of the country, has increased threefold.
Ehsan Heidari, the acting head of the Tehran Immigration Affairs Department, told Iranian journalists on Wednesday (April 16) that over eight thousand Afghan nationals have been collected from recreational areas in Tehran and transferred to a reception camp for repatriation to Afghanistan under a plan to gather unauthorized immigrants.
He added that in the year 1402, over 70,000 unauthorized nationals were collected and delivered to the Tehran reception camp for the process of returning to their country.
He emphasized that the implementation of the plan to collect unauthorized immigrants in Tehran will continue until the last moment.
It should be noted that Iran is hosting millions of Afghan refugees who have left Afghanistan for security reasons and economic challenges.
Many of these Afghan migrants became refugees in Iran after the rise of the Taliban and increased poverty and unemployment in Afghanistan.
