Canada designates Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist organization

Bayan News – The Government of Canada announced on Wednesday (June 19) that it has designated Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization.

Justin Trudeau, the Prime Minister of Canada, wrote on the X platform that the IRGC is now listed as a terrorist group in his country’s list.

This action by Canada has provoked the fury of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the welcome of human rights organizations.

Kazem Gharibabadi, the Deputy Judiciary Chief for International Affairs of Iran, condemned it in a note on the X platform, calling it a “hostile act”. He stressed that the IRGC “is responsible for guarding national security and confronting terrorism in the region.”

Additionally, the Tasnim news agency, which is affiliated with the IRGC, has reacted to this Canadian move by calling the government of that country a “terrorist government” that has pursued “a policy of hostility towards Iran” in recent years and is “one of the main supporters of terrorist groups and a haven for the Mujahedin and embezzlers.”
