Doctors Without Borders: Women Still Struggle to Access Basic Health Services
Bayan News – The international organization Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has recently expressed concern that Afghan women, despite years of investment, are still struggling to access basic health services.
The organization wrote on the X platform on Monday, July 15th, that due to a shortage of health facilities, distance, and lack of sufficient funding, many illnesses are often diagnosed and treated too late in most cases.
Doctors Without Borders said that patients are hospitalized when their condition has deteriorated significantly.
While stating this situation, the organization said that in 2023, it provided care to 10,400 children suffering from malnutrition in the provinces of Herat, Helmand, and Kandahar.
After the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan, many health centers had to suspend their activities due to a reduction in international aid, and citizens’ access to health services has also severely decreased.
Over the past three years, international organizations have repeatedly announced that due to budget cuts, they are forced to stop supporting some health centers.
