Bayan News – The Ministry of Intelligence of the Islamic Republic announced on Friday (August 23) the arrest of 14 ISIS members in several cities across the country.
According to reports from IRNA, these members of the Khorasan branch of ISIS were arrested in the provinces of Tehran, Alborz, Fars, and Khuzestan.
The Iranian Ministry of Intelligence added in a statement that these individuals had entered Iran illegally in recent days with the aim of carrying out “terrorist operations.”
However, the ministry did not disclose the identities of the arrested individuals.
In the past two years, Iran has witnessed deadly attacks for which the Khorasan branch of the ISIS group has claimed responsibility.
In the most recent incident, this branch of ISIS carried out attacks during the commemoration ceremony of Qasem Soleimani in Tehran, resulting in the deaths of more than a hundred Iranian citizens.
