Bayan News – John Kirby, spokesperson for the National Security Council at the White House, said on Tuesday (August 27) during a press conference that if Iran attacks Israel, the United States will defend that country.
He emphasized that Washington remains committed to defending Israel against any potential attack from Iran. “It is difficult to predict the likelihood of an attack; however, the White House is closely monitoring the statements of Iranian officials.”
Kirby stated, “We believe they (Iran) are still in a good position and are prepared to carry out an attack if they choose to, which is why we have reinforced our forces in the region.”
The White House official clarified, “Our message to Iran will remain clear and consistent. First, refrain from this action. There is no reason to escalate this issue, and there is no need to start a broad regional war. Second, when the time comes, we are prepared to defend Israel.”
However, more than a month after the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas’s political bureau in Tehran, it still seems that Iran has not taken steps to carry out a retaliatory attack on Israeli soil.
