Agreement between Germany and Uzbekistan to accept skilled workers and expel Afghan refugees

Bayan News – Olaf Scholz, the Chancellor of Germany, announced during his visit to Uzbekistan the agreement between the two countries to accept skilled workers and expel Afghan refugees.

The German Chancellor met yesterday (September 15) with Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the President of Uzbekistan, in Samarkand, where they signed an agreement.

Mr. Scholz added, “We are facilitating the immigration of workers with high skills that we need for the growth of the German economy.”

He also mentioned that the two countries have agreed on a “simple and non-bureaucratic method” for “those who need to return.”

On the other hand, Reuters reported that the German Chancellor did not answer media questions about whether the agreement with Uzbekistan includes the expulsion of criminal migrants from Afghanistan but added that “of course, there are confidential discussions about cooperation in many areas.”

The German Chancellor travels to Uzbekistan after reports indicated that Germany had been in talks with the Uzbek government about the expulsion of Afghan refugees.
