Senior Taliban Official: We Need People’s Consultation to Solve Problems

Bayan News – Mohammad Nabi Omari, Deputy Minister of the Taliban’s Ministry of Interior, stated that there are issues, and to resolve them, the people’s consultation is necessary.

He made these remarks on Wednesday (September 18) during a meeting with local elders in the Khost province.

This Taliban security official emphasized that the Taliban government is facing challenges and needs the consultation of the people to address them.

Omari said: “There are some problems. We are not saints or prophets, and we do not receive revelations. We need the consultation, opinions, and votes of the people.”

However, Sirajuddin Haqqani’s deputy urged the people, especially the residents of the province, to adhere to the established regulations.

This is one of the first senior Taliban officials to occasionally speak publicly and take a stance that contradicts the policies of the Taliban leader.

The Taliban, who came to power in Afghanistan through military means, do not believe in elections and consider them contrary to Islamic Sharia law.
