Israeli Airstrike on Beirut: Senior Hezbollah Commander Killed

Bayan News – The Israeli military has announced that in an airstrike on Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, Ibrahim Aqil, a senior Hezbollah commander, along with several other members of the group, were killed.

On Friday, September 20, the Israeli army bombed parts of Beirut, Lebanon’s capital.

The Lebanese Ministry of Health confirmed that at least 14 people were killed in these attacks.

According to Reuters, the Israeli army and a Lebanese security source stated that Ibrahim Aqil, along with other senior members of one of Hezbollah’s elite units, was killed in the airstrike.

Hezbollah, in a statement, confirmed Aqil’s death shortly after midnight, referring to him as “one of its senior leaders,” without providing details on how he died.

In a later statement, Hezbollah released a brief biography of Aqil, stating that he was killed in the southern suburbs of Beirut, in Dahiya, in what they called a “treacherous Israeli assassination.”

It is still unclear if the casualties include Aqil and other Hezbollah commanders.

Another security source reported that at least six other Hezbollah commanders were killed when several missiles struck the entrance of a building’s garage.

This is the second time in less than two months that Israel has targeted a Hezbollah military commander in Beirut.

In July, Fuad Shukur, a senior Hezbollah military commander, was killed in an Israeli airstrike.
