Ban on Pashtun Tahafuz Movement; A Significant Threat to Pakistan’s Order and Security

Bayan News – In an unprecedented move, Pakistan’s Ministry of Interior has banned the activities of the “Pashtun Tahafuz Movement” (PTM), declaring the movement’s activities as contrary to the peace and national security of the country.

On Sunday (October 6), the ministry issued a statement stating that the movement’s activities are illegal under Section 11(b) of Pakistan’s Anti-Terrorism Act.

According to Pakistan’s Ministry of Interior, the “Pashtun Tahafuz Movement” poses a significant threat to Pakistan’s public order and security.

The ban on PTM’s activities in Pakistan comes as a Pashtun tribal council (Jirga), with the presence of Manzoor Ahmad Pashteen, the leader of the movement, is scheduled to take place on the 11th of this month in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

So far, the “Pashtun Tahafuz Movement” has not responded to the new directive from Pakistan’s Ministry of Interior.

Led by Manzoor Ahmad Pashteen, the “Pashtun Tahafuz Movement” advocates for the rights of Pakistan’s Pashtuns and has repeatedly organized large-scale protests against the government’s policies.
