Lebanese Officials: The U.S. Has Presented a Ceasefire Plan in Lebanon to Hezbollah
Bayan News – International media have reported that the U.S. government has proposed a two-month ceasefire plan to the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament and Hezbollah.
According to Agence France-Presse, citing a senior Lebanese official, Beirut is currently reviewing the U.S. proposal for establishing a ceasefire with Israel.
Additionally, Lebanese media have reported that Washington’s proposed plan, which includes a 13-point draft, has been presented to Hezbollah for a two-month ceasefire.
According to international reports, the goal of this proposal is to end the 13-month conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.
Najib Mikati, Lebanon’s interim prime minister, on Friday called on the Islamic Republic to assist in establishing a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah.
Based on published reports, senior Lebanese government officials have urged the Islamic Republic to convince Hezbollah to agree to a deal that may include a withdrawal from the Lebanon-Israel border.
Meanwhile, Reuters, quoting an Islamic Republic official, reported that Iran supports any decision Lebanon makes in negotiations to ensure a ceasefire with Israel.
However, under this plan, a 60-day ceasefire is to be implemented in Lebanon, during which Lebanese army forces will redeploy along the Israeli border.
Neither the Israeli government nor Hezbollah has yet responded to these reports.
