Canadian Prime Minister: We Take the Detention of Canadian Veteran by the Taliban Very Seriously
Bayan News – Justin Trudeau, the Prime Minister of Canada, says he is taking the detention of David Llorie, a Canadian veteran, by the Taliban very seriously.
The Prime Minister of Canada told reporters on Saturday evening (November 16), after the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Peru: “I can assure you, first and foremost, that the Government of Canada takes this situation very, very seriously.”
Trudeau also stated that consular assistance has been provided to Llorie’s family.
The Canadian veteran was detained by the Taliban last week after flying to Afghanistan.
Taliban officials have not yet commented on the detention of the Canadian veteran.
According to Canadian media reports, Llorie had traveled to Afghanistan several times and provided consultancy services through his private security company in Kabul.
It is said that the Taliban has been aware of his activities in Kabul in recent years.
