Tensions Between Kabul and Islamabad:;Acting Taliban Defense Minister Meets Pakistan’s Ambassador
Bayan News – Amid strained relations between Kabul and Islamabad, Mullah Yaqoob Mujahid, the Acting Defense Minister of the Taliban government, met with Ubaid-ur-Rehman Nizamani, Pakistan’s Ambassador in Kabul.
The Taliban’s Ministry of Defense announced on Wednesday, November 27, that Mullah Yaqoob Mujahid referred to Afghanistan and Pakistan as two neighboring countries with many commonalities during the meeting.
According to the statement, the Acting Defense Minister said: “These two countries share many commonalities, and these shared aspects and stable relations between the two nations have led the Islamic Emirate to be ready for comprehensive cooperation in economic, trade, and other mutual areas with a sense of neighborhood and mutual respect.”
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Ambassador in Kabul emphasized the expansion of joint cooperation and the strengthening of bilateral relations.
This is the first meeting between Pakistan’s Ambassador in Kabul and a senior official of the Taliban’s acting government following recent border tensions.
In recent months, multiple border clashes between the two countries’ forces have occurred, casting a shadow over the political and economic relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
