Local sources in Nimruz province have reported that farmers in the province irrigate their fields using well water due to the lack of agricultural water.
According to farmers, there is no water left in Kamal Khan dam after the Taliban allowed the dam’s water to flow to Iran.
As stated by the farmers, the economic downturn has prevented them from irrigating their wheat fields, and they only save the farms from drying out.
According to a source, when the Taliban opened the Kamal Khan dam to Iran, they promised Nimruz farmers they could irrigate their fields from the Kajaki dam which is located in Helmand, but now, the Taliban doesn’t allow the farmers to use the Kajaki dam for their agriculture purposes.
