Lavrov: Ready to Negotiate with the Trump Administration to End the Ukraine War
Bayan News – Sergey Lavrov, Russia’s Foreign Minister, has stated that Moscow is ready to engage in talks with the Trump administration to bring an end to the war in Ukraine.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, December 26, Lavrov noted that for such negotiations to begin, the United States must take the first step.
According to Russia’s Foreign Minister, if the United States shows a serious green light to resume talks, Moscow will undoubtedly respond.
He added that it is the Americans who need to take the initial step toward negotiations with Moscow, as they were the ones who abandoned the talks in the first place.
Lavrov emphasized that Russia seeks a legally binding agreement for lasting peace that guarantees the security of Russia and its neighbors.
He stressed that Moscow wants the legal documents to be structured in a way that ensures the “impossibility of violating these agreements.”
Meanwhile, Donald Trump, the U.S. president-elect, promised multiple times during his election campaign that he would end the Ukraine-Russia war within 24 hours of entering the White House.
Trump is set to take office on January 20, 2025.
