Modi: Terrorism is a threat to regional and world peace

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Tuesday (July 4) at the virtual meeting of the heads of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization that some countries use terrorism as a tool for their policies and give shelter to terrorists.

The current situation in Afghanistan, which is part of this meeting, the Prime Minister stated that the situation in Afghanistan has a direct impact on the security of Shanghai member countries.

In his speech, Modi clearly said that these countries (Shanghai members) should make more efforts for the welfare of the Afghan people.

According to Modi, Afghan soil should not be used to spread unrest in neighboring countries or promote extremist ideologies.

On the other hand, Shahbaz Sharif, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, in this virtual meeting, called for a meaningful interaction of the international community with the caretaker government of Kabul.

Emphasizing that stability in Afghanistan means peace and prosperity in the region, Sharif noted that this issue requires the joint cooperation of the member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

The prime minister of Pakistan stated: “Unfulfilled expectations show that the vital support Afghanistan needs to prevent a severe humanitarian crisis, prevent economic collapse and fight terrorism, has stopped and this policy needs an urgent review.”

According to Sharif, a peaceful and stable Afghanistan not only has economic benefits for the people of this country, but also opens up the real potential of the economy of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization region and contributes to peace, security and global progress.
