Bayan News – In a recent BRICS summit held in Johannesburg, South Africa, the leaders of the group agreed to the membership of six countries, including Iran and Saudi Arabia.
According to international media reports, with this new development, Iran, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Argentina, Egypt, and Ethiopia will officially become members starting from January of next year.
Currently, China, India, Russia, and Brazil are the main members of the BRICS group, and according to reports, 40% of the world’s population lives in BRICS member countries.
Furthermore, the main members of BRICS are global economic powers, and this is likely to impact the economies of Western countries.
On the other hand, Iran’s Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, has described Tehran’s membership in this group as an important achievement in a message on the X network.
He wrote, “The significant success of the Islamic Republic of Iran in joining BRICS, in addition to strengthening multilateralism, can provide a platform for pursuing other major government strategies in implementing dynamic diplomacy.”
It should be noted that with these new additions, the BRICS group is recognized as a major rival to the G7 group, which is led by the largest industrialized countries in the world, including the United States.
