Bayan News – International media have reported that the French government intends to impose strict restrictions against migrants entering Europe illegally.
Gérald Darmanin, the French Minister of the Interior, recently visited Italy to discuss the migration crisis with officials of the country.
The French Minister of the Interior stated that illegal migrants will be dealt with seriously, and they should not think that they will be welcomed by European countries.
In his remarks, he explicitly stated, “We must protect the external borders of the European Union, and most importantly, immediately examine asylum requests and return those who do not meet the necessary acceptance criteria to their home countries.”
Following his statements, this French official traveled to Italy, where in the past three days, over eight thousand migrants have illegally entered the island of Lampedusa.
The influx of these migrants has severely strained the capacity and reception of the island, causing a political shock in Italy, as reported by some media outlets.
