Suicide Attack on the Ministry of Interior in Ankara, Turkey
Bayan News – Turkish media has reported that the Ministry of Interior of the country was targeted in a suicide attack on Monday (October 1st).
According to reports from the country’s media, two suicide attackers targeted the headquarters of the Turkish Ministry of Interior, with one of the attackers detonating himself and the other being taken down.
It is said that two Turkish police officers were superficially injured in this incident.
The Ministry of Interior of Turkey stated in a press release, “Around 9:30 a.m., two terrorists carried out a terrorist operation using a commercial van near the entrance of the Ministry of Interior – General Directorate of Security.”
The statement further said, “One of the terrorists detonated himself, and the other terrorist was taken down. Two security personnel were also superficially injured during the gunfire.”
The explosion occurred in a neighborhood where several ministries and the Turkish Parliament are located.
It is expected that the parliament will commence its new session today with the presence of Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the President of Turkey, who was scheduled to give a speech on this occasion, according to Turkish media reports.
Most countries around the world have condemned this attack and expressed solidarity with the Turkish people.
