World Food Program: Afghans in Urgent Need of Support
Bayan News – The World Food Program (WFP) has stated that the people of Afghanistan are in need of immediate support, as 15 million individuals in Afghanistan do not know how to secure their food supplies.
Today, Monday (October 16th), is World Food Day, and on this occasion, the organization wrote on the X network that one-third of Afghanistan’s population does not know where their next meal will come from.
The organization stated, “On World Food Day, we remind the world that in Afghanistan, 15 million people do not know where their next meal is coming from. That’s one-third of the population.”
According to the World Food Program, natural disasters in Herat province in western Afghanistan have further exacerbated the humanitarian crisis in the country.
This comes as most international relief organizations are focused on providing assistance to the earthquake-affected areas of Herat province, and most humanitarian aid is being distributed to those areas.
