Bayan News – The Ministry of Defense of the interim Kabul government has announced the trip of General Faseehuddin Fetrat, the Chief of Army Staff of the ministry, to the northern provinces of Afghanistan.
The ministry stated in a tweet on Friday night, November 30th, that their chief of staff first visited the extraordinary province of Panjshir during his trip.
According to the Ministry of Defense newsletter, Mr. Fetrat, after Panjshir, traveled to Balkh province and met with local officials in the region.
The Chief of Army Staff’s visit to the northern provinces of Afghanistan comes at a time when there have been recent reports circulating on social media that Mr. Fetrat is restricted by the elders of the Islamic Emirate and is not allowed to undertake provincial trips.
Furthermore, Panjshir and Balkh have witnessed the highest level of conflicts between the forces of the Islamic Emirate and the National Resistance Front led by Ahmad Massoud over the past two years.
