UN: Special Representatives Meeting for Afghanistan to be held in Qatar in the next two weeks.
Bayan news – Stephane Dujarric, the spokesperson for the United Nations Secretary-General, announced the convening of a follow-up meeting of special representatives for Afghanistan and regional organizations.
He stated in a press briefing on Thursday, January 24th, that this meeting will be hosted by the United Nations in Doha, the capital of Qatar, on February 18th and 19th.
According to the UN spokesperson, the purpose of convening the meeting of special representatives for Afghanistan is to discuss how to enhance international participation, coordination, and structured approaches, taking into account the recommendations of the independent assessment of Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, it is reported that a regional meeting will be held in Kabul next week with the participation of representatives from Iran, Russia, China, and Pakistan.
Sayed Rasool Musavi, the Assistant Foreign Minister of Iran, wrote on the X Platform: “The Kabul regional meeting reflects the special attention of Afghanistan’s neighbors to peace, stability, and the well-being of the people of this country, as well as security in the region.”
The agenda of this public meeting has not been announced yet.
