UNAMA emphasized the empowerment of girls on the International Day of Girls in Science
Bayan News – Rosa Otunbayeva, the Deputy Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), emphasized the empowerment of women on World Science Day for Women and Girls in the field of science.
In a message today, Monday (11th of February), she added that empowering women and girls in the field of science in Afghanistan creates opportunities for half of society to engage in combating challenges such as climate change resistance and sustainable development.
The UNAMA Chief stated that science has no gender and said, “We must support girls and empower more women in the field of science to strive in addressing global challenges and creating a better future for all.”
February 11th coincides with World Women and Girls in Science Day, and this day is celebrated in many countries around the world.
This occasion comes in Afghanistan at a time when women and girls are deprived of education.
