Houthi Militants Targeted a British Ship in the Gulf of Aden
Bayan News – Houthi militants in Yemen targeted a British cargo ship off the coast of the Gulf of Aden, which was in motion, last day.
According to Al Arabiya, a spokesperson for the Houthi military stated in a statement on Friday morning (February 16), “Yemeni armed forces targeted a British ship while it was in motion in the Gulf of Aden. This targeting operation was carried out with appropriate naval missiles and directly hit the ship.”
The UK Maritime Trade Operations agency confirmed the attack on the British vessel and stated that the missile did not directly hit the ship and it continues to its destination.
On the other hand, Ambrey, a maritime security company, stated, “A cargo ship was targeted by an explosive bullet while passing the eastern shores of Aden.”
The company added that the fired projectile did not directly hit the ship and exploded outside the vessel, causing minimal damage.
Since November 19, Houthi militants have been targeting commercial ships associated with Western countries in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea.
These militants believe that the ships are heading to support Israel’s armament and transfer military equipment.
