Zamir Kablov, Russia’s special representative for Afghanistan, has announced the holding of a meeting of foreign ministers of Afghanistan’s neighboring countries this month.
Kabulov told Sputnik on Wednesday (April 5): “We have important events in Afghanistan in the near future. A meeting at the level of the foreign ministers of Afghanistan’s neighboring countries and Russia will be held on April 13th in Samarkand, where Afghanistan will be discussed.”
Regarding the Group of Five, which was created by the initiative of Iran and Russia, he expressed his concern that this group has not made any progress due to the tensions between India and Pakistan.
The special representative of Russia stated clearly in this matter: “So far, this issue has not made progress because of Pakistan’s position, which opposes India’s involvement at this stage.”
It is not yet clear whether Kabul government officials will be invited to this meeting or not.
The political representative of the caretaker government of Kabul in Doha, referring to the preparations for holding this meeting, said that the government of Kabul should be invited to such meetings.
