The United Nations warned about withdrawing from Afghanistan

Bayan news

In unprecedented statements, the senior officials of the United Nations have warned that if the Taliban do not convince the women to return to the offices of this organization, they will decide to leave Afghanistan in May of this year.

Achim Steiner, the head of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) said in an interview on Tuesday (April 18) that the officials of this organization are talking with the Taliban leaders to get their satisfaction for the presence of women in the UN offices.

Referring to Afghanistan’s economic crisis, he reminded that if the international aid is reduced this year, it is possible that this country will reach the brink of collapse.

This warning comes after the caretaker government in Kabul prevented women from attending United Nations offices throughout Afghanistan.

After the ban, the UN suspended the duties of all staff.

However, this organization has announced that before this ban, about 26 million people in Afghanistan were benefiting from the humanitarian aid of this organization.
