A group of journalists: A reasonable solution should be considered to solve the financial problems of journalists

A group of journalists in Kabul, in a meeting on the occasion of World Media Freedom Day, asked the domestic and international institutions to take reasonable and principled solutions in order to solve the financial problems of journalists.

These journalists announced in a press conference on Wednesday (May 3) and said that after the recent developments in Afghanistan, journalists and media suffered serious damage due to economic challenges.

Seyyed Mehdi Hosseini, one of the journalists, told the media, citing the findings of the media, that in the last two years, about 300 media outlets ceased to operate due to financial problems and the imposition of restrictions, and the suspension of these media publications caused the unemployment of hundreds of journalists in the center and provinces of Afghanistan.

According to Hosseini, the recent developments caused that in addition to the suspension of media activities, more than 60% of journalists and media employees lost their duties, and this caused the financial problems of journalists to increase.

Referring to the imposition of restrictions by the caretaker government of Kabul on how to report on the situation in Afghanistan, he said that the restrictions have caused the facts to not be reflected in a fundamental way.

At the same time, the journalists published a statement demanding the formation of a non-governmental organization so that the individual demands of the journalists would be given serious attention. And be supported and approved by everyone.”

In the announcement of the journalists, referring to the abuse of the institutions that support journalists, it is stated that the media employees should unite to prevent any abuse of these institutions in the name of the journalist; Because the current institutions lack credibility and legitimacy.
