Pakistan’s Defense Minister: Islamabad is fighting terrorism regardless of Kabul’s willingness
Bayan News – As tensions rise between Kabul and Islamabad, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Pakistan’s Defense Minister, says his government is determined to root out terrorism.
He made these statements in response to recent comments by Zabihullah Mujahid, a spokesman for the interim government in Kabul, who had said that the Islamic Emirate had signed the Doha agreement with the United States and had a different approach than Pakistan.
The Pakistani defense minister added in a tweet: “Regardless of Afghanistan’s position, Pakistan is determined to root out terrorism from its soil, no matter what the source.”
According to Asif, Islamabad is fighting terrorism regardless of whether the current government in Kabul has the will to control internal strife or not.
However, relations between the interim government in Kabul and Islamabad are strained over the presence of Taliban militants in Afghan territory.
Islamabad claims that Pakistani Taliban militants organize attacks against its army using Afghan soil.
