Detention of Over 50 Afghan Migrants by Turkish Police

Bayan News – Turkish media outlets have reported that 55 Afghan migrants have been detained by the country’s police, with five of them accused of drug trafficking.

According to the Anatolian News Agency, these individuals have been transferred to the Foreigners’ Repatriation Center in Ayvacık.

It is stated that recently, the rate of forced deportation of Afghan migrants by the Turkish government has increased.

However, a few days ago, officials from the Ministry of Migrants and Returnees of the current Kabul government had requested the Turkish ambassador to consider that forced deportation is not a permanent solution, and further dialogue should take place on this matter.

The Turkish ambassador had also requested the Ministry of Migrants to send a delegation to assess the situation of migrants in the country.
