Islamic Emirate Official: Universities Ready to Re-admit Girls, Waiting for Leader’s Orders
Bayan News – Mawlawi Abdul Jabbar, an advisor to the Ministry of Higher Education of the Islamic Emirate, stated that universities in Afghanistan are prepared to re-admit students, but they await the orders of the Islamic Emirate’s leader.
In an interview with the Associated Press on Sunday (August 12), he stated that as soon as Hibatullah Akhundzada, the leader of the Islamic Emirate, gives the command, universities will open their doors to girls.
The Islamic Emirate official clarified that it is still unclear whether universities will open for girls at all.
He said, “All our leaders are in favor of resuming education for girls. Even our ministers support this matter.”
The Associated Press reported that these statements by Taliban officials indicate another sign of differing opinions among the Taliban regarding decisions and orders from the leader of the Islamic Emirate.
However, it has been almost 300 days since universities were closed to girls.
After the leader of the Islamic Emirate issues the command in this regard, some senior officials of the Islamic Emirate have expressed dissatisfaction with this decision.
