Muttaqi Invites His Iranian Counterpart to Kabul

Bayan News – The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that Hussein Amir Abdollahian has been invited to Kabul by Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan.

The ministry stated in a newsletter on Saturday evening (August 26) that Abdollahian and Muttaqi had discussed various topics, including Iran’s water rights, through a telephone conversation.

The Iranian Foreign Minister added that Tehran emphasizes the cooperation of all parties within Afghanistan for the stability, security, and well-being of the people of this country.

The newsletter from the ministry stated: “Amir Abdollahian, reiterating Iran’s water rights and considering the recent visit of the Iranian technical delegation to Afghanistan, stated that these visits contribute to greater transparency based on the 1951 Helmand Treaty.”

On the other hand, the newsletter stated that the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan, in this telephone conversation, discussed the resolution of certain emerging problems and stated that efforts are underway.

Mr. Muttaqi, while considering the relations between the two countries based on neighborliness and brotherhood, has invited the Iranian Foreign Minister to travel to Kabul.
