Diplomatic Traffic between Kabul and Tehran: This Time, the Iranian Judiciary Delegation Visits Kabul

Bayan News – Kazemi Qoomi, the chargé d’affaires of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s embassy in Kabul, announced in a meeting with Amir Khan Muttaqi, the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan, about the visit of an Iranian judiciary delegation to Kabul.

After tensions over the Hirmand River water issue, relations between Afghanistan and Iran had soured. However, in the past two weeks, Kabul and Tehran have witnessed diplomatic traffic.

Recently, two Iranian delegations visited Kabul, and reciprocally, a delegation from the caretaker government of Kabul traveled to Tehran for economic discussions, particularly regarding the development of railway between the two countries.

The Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a newsletter today, Monday (September 3), that the chargé d’affaires of the Islamic Republic of Iran discussed enhancing cooperation in political, commercial, economic, and humanitarian fields with the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan.

According to the ministry’s newsletter, Mr. Qoomi announced the upcoming visit of an Iranian judiciary delegation to Kabul, emphasizing that the purpose of the visit is to discuss judicial cooperation and address the cases of Afghan convicts sentenced to death.

Meanwhile, Mr. Muttaqi considered the visits and meetings between high-ranking and technical delegations of Afghanistan and Iran as valuable interactions and stated that both sides should make further efforts to expand cooperation and take practical actions.
