Canada, Indonesia, and Ireland are holding an extraordinary meeting on the situation of women in Afghanistan
Bayan News – Tom West, the U.S. Special Representative for Afghanistan, has announced the holding of an extraordinary meeting on the situation of women and girls in Afghanistan by the countries of Canada, Indonesia, and Ireland.
On Friday night (September 21), he wrote on X Network that he directly heard from women about the Taliban’s denial of their fundamental rights.
He wrote, “Most importantly, we have directly heard from Afghan women about the Taliban’s denial of their fundamental rights. Education, work, freedom of movement, expression and participation as equal members of society, and other rights.”
He made these remarks on the sidelines of the 78th United Nations General Assembly.
Several world leaders at this assembly requested the Islamic Emirate to remove the restrictions impeding the progress of Afghan women and girls, citing the current situation in Afghanistan.
