1 Million Mothers and Children Will Lose Nutrition Support with Budget Reduction
Bayan News – The World Food Program (WFP) once again warns that without budget provisions from the international community, 1 million mothers and children will be deprived of nutrition support.
The organization wrote on the X network today, Tuesday (September 26), that it has been forced to reduce its aid in Afghanistan, leaving millions unsure of where their next meal will come from.
According to the WFP, budget provisions from the global community will be the last lifeline for the women and children of Afghanistan.
The organization continues to emphasize that the assistance program for Afghanistan requires $1 million during the cold and harsh winter.
Over the past year, the World Food Program has repeatedly appealed for budget support from the international community, but only a few countries have been willing to contribute a modest amount for humanitarian aid to Afghanistan.
However, according to United Nations statistics, more than $4 billion is needed to prevent a humanitarian crisis and provide assistance to those in need, and only a small percentage of this budget has been allocated to UN humanitarian agencies so far.
