OCHA: $93 Million Needed to Assist Herat’s Affected People
Bayan News – The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) states that $93 million is needed for the immediate assistance of vulnerable individuals in the province of Herat.
The organization wrote on the X network that currently $15 million has been allocated to provide aid to those affected by the recent earthquakes in Herat province, but it is not sufficient.
According to OCHA, United Nations humanitarian teams have provided assistance to thousands of individuals affected by the consecutive earthquakes in Herat.
The office stated that the teams and their partners are working, but further assistance is required.
Other relevant UN agencies in Herat province also emphasize the urgent need for over $14 million to address the upcoming winter season.
Previously, international organizations, including UNAMA, had announced that over 40,000 individuals in Herat, who have been affected by recent crises, are in need of immediate assistance.
