Ban on Education in Afghanistan; Afghan Women and Men Have the Right to Education
Bayan News – While the ban on girls’ education in Afghanistan persists, some officials of the caretaker government in Kabul once again emphasize the reopening of girls’ schools.
Shir Mohammad Abbas Stanekzai, the political representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated today, Tuesday (November 6th), during the “Future Economic Development of Afghanistan” conference, that education is the natural and legal right of every Afghan citizen, and no one can deny it.
He clearly stated that the Islamic Emirate ensures the rights of all Afghan citizens, regardless of their religion, ethnicity, or adherence to Sharia law.
The political representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also reiterated that all Afghan citizens, including women and men, have the right to actively participate in political, economic, and defense activities in the country.
However, it has been nearly three years since the gates of education have been blocked for girls.
Although the officials of the caretaker government in Kabul have consistently stated that the Islamic Emirate is not against girls’ education, it is necessary to create a safe environment for girls to pursue their studies.
It is still unclear when girls’ schools will be reopened.
