UNAMA: Hear the Message of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Regarding Women in Afghanistan

Bayan News – The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) announced today, Friday (November 9th), that Rosemary DiCarlo, the head of this organization, participated in the international conference of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The head of UNAMA considered the international conference of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, titled “Women in Islam,” as an important opportunity to raise awareness about the situation of Afghan women who face severe restrictions.

According to UNAMA, the message of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and its member countries, which represents the collective voice of the Islamic world, should be heard in Afghanistan. “Women are an essential part of any national journey of transformation, development, and growth.”

On the sidelines of this conference, the head of UNAMA also met with officials from Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Pakistan, and the Development Bank and emphasized the need for international attention for strong engagement, humanitarian support, and activities to support Afghan women.

The Women in Islam conference was held yesterday in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, hosted by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

The Indonesian Foreign Minister also emphasized both global engagement with the caretaker government in Kabul and the resumption of girls’ education during this conference.
