UN Official: Many Afghan women have been expelled from Pakistan without their husbands

Bayan News – Simultaneously with the ongoing mass expulsion of Afghan migrants from Pakistan, a United Nations official added that many Afghan women have been expelled from the country without their husbands.

Shawee Lee, the head of the World Food Program for Afghanistan in Geneva, added that Afghan migrants have been forcibly displaced in the worst possible time and currently have no place to go or roof to live under in the cold winter weather.

She stated that the majority of women returning from Pakistan have been expelled without their husbands, and their husbands are in Pakistani police custody.

The head of the World Food Program for Afghanistan stated that returnees not only need emergency assistance during the winter but also require assistance for rebuilding their lives in Afghanistan.

In recent months, the rate of forced expulsion of families by the Pakistani government has intensified.

According to published reports, in the past few months, over 500,000 individuals who were living illegally in Pakistan have been expelled.
