UN Population Fund: More Pregnant Women in Remote Areas of Afghanistan are Losing Their Lives During Childbirth

Bayan News – The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has expressed concern over the lack of access for pregnant women in remote areas of Afghanistan.

The organization wrote on its X platform today, Friday (February 8th), that women in remote areas of Afghanistan do not have access to proper healthcare services, resulting in additional suffering for women due to pregnancy-related complications.

The UN Population Fund further stated that measures have been taken to prevent maternal deaths in remote areas of Afghanistan. One of the initiatives mentioned is the construction of family health houses, which will provide assistance to pregnant women during childbirth.

However, according to published statistics, nearly ten million people in Afghanistan reside in areas with limited access to healthcare services.

Furthermore, due to the decrease in international aid and the absence of health centers, the majority of the population, especially women and girls, are deprived of access to healthcare services.
