Border security enhancement plan between Tajikistan and Afghanistan will be implemented

Bayan News – Yury Khachaturov, the Secretary-General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), has stated in his recent remarks that the border security enhancement plan between Tajikistan and Afghanistan will be implemented.

The Secretary-General of the CSTO, in an interview with the Russian news agency TASS, said that this plan will be put into action starting from July of this year.

According to him, the draft of this plan has been approved by the Permanent Council of the CSTO and has been presented to the member countries of the organization.

The Secretary-General of the CSTO emphasized that efforts are being made to strengthen the border between Tajikistan and Afghanistan, and highlighted the importance of the political will of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, which are exposed to increased terrorist threats from Afghan soil, for the implementation of this important plan.

Members of the CSTO had expressed concerns and issued warnings about the infiltration of terrorist groups from Afghan territory into the countries of Central Asia prior to the drafting of the plan to strengthen border security between Tajikistan and Afghanistan.
