Karzai once again calls for the reopening of girls’ schools in Afghanistan
Bayan News – Hamid Karzai, former president of Afghanistan, has once again emphasized the reopening of schools and universities for girls.
The former president of Afghanistan met with Takayoshi Kuromiya, the Japanese ambassador to Kabul, today, Monday (April 7th).
Mr. Karzai expressed his gratitude for Japan’s humanitarian assistance to the people of Afghanistan and highlighted in his remarks that national consensus is necessary to strengthen peace and lasting stability in the country.
Karzai is one of the few political figures in Afghanistan who remained in Kabul after the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan.
He has consistently urged the Taliban, in his official meetings, to open the doors of schools for girls on one hand, and on the other hand, engage in dialogue with their political opponents for lasting peace and stability in the country.
