Mujahid: 25 Taliban Officials on the UN Blacklist
Bayan News – Concurrent with the deterioration of relations between the Taliban government and the international community, Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Taliban, states that 25 of their officials are on the United Nations and United States blacklist.
Mujahid made these statements on Friday (April 12) in an interview with Ariana News television network, adding that many Taliban officials were previously on the blacklist.
He said that five Taliban officials have been included in the United Nations and US blacklists in the past three years.
According to Mujahid, some of the Taliban officials on the blacklist had no responsibilities in the past and do not hold any responsibilities in the current government.
The Taliban spokesperson stated in his remarks that the blacklist has no impact on increasing pressure on the Taliban and that it violates the Doha peace agreement.
Last year, the US Department of the Treasury included three Taliban officials, including the head of the Academy of Sciences, the Minister of Promotion of Virtue, and the acting Minister of Higher Education of the Taliban, on the blacklist due to the repression of women and human rights violations in Afghanistan.
