Taliban Defense Minister: ISIS Does Not Have Physical Presence in Afghanistan

Bayan News – Following regional and international concerns about the presence of terrorist groups in Afghanistan, Mawlawi Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid, the Taliban’s Defense Minister, states that no destructive group, including ISIS, has a physical presence.

The Taliban’s Defense Minister made these statements on Thursday (April 25) during a meeting with a delegation from Malaysia, emphasizing that the Taliban does not allow anyone to use Afghan soil.

Senior Taliban officials have previously denied the presence of ISIS in Afghanistan.

Furthermore, Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Taliban’s Foreign Minister, also accused some neighboring countries of Afghanistan of supporting ISIS in his speech yesterday. Muttaqi stated that three neighboring countries of Afghanistan are providing training, facilitating, and organizing ISIS attacks, but he did not mention the names of these countries.

Muttaqi added that investigations into this group indicate that out of every 10 security incidents, 8 are planned outside of Afghanistan. He stated that if these countries fulfill their responsibilities properly, security problems will not arise in Afghanistan.

The Taliban’s Foreign Minister emphasized that Afghanistan does not harm others and called on other countries to refrain from engaging in “destructive actions in Afghanistan.”
