Khalilzad says he is not responsible for the current situation in Afghanistan and does not apologize

Bayan News – Horia Mosadiq, an Afghan human rights activist, caught Zalmay Khalilzad, the former US representative for Afghanistan, off guard at Heathrow Airport in London and accused him of the severity of the current situation in Afghanistan.

According to a video released on social media on Sunday, May 5th, Khalilzad says that he has made extensive efforts to secure peace and stability in Afghanistan, but the involved parties did not cooperate.

Khalilzad expresses that he is distressed by the current situation in Afghanistan and highlights the impact of the deprivation of education for women and girls in the country.

The former US representative for Afghanistan continues to emphasize that the United States decided to withdraw from the country and it was necessary for the Afghans to come together and reach a comprehensive agreement for the prosperity and development of Afghanistan.

However, “unfortunately,” mistakes were made by various actors and the issue of this country has not been resolved yet. “This task remains unfinished until the Afghans reach a general consensus.”

Horia Mosadiq apologizes to Khalilzad in the video for the current situation in Afghanistan, but Khalilzad says he has not made any mistakes that warrant an apology because those who are responsible should apologize.

Zalmay Khalilzad, as the US representative for Afghanistan, held talks with Taliban representatives in Doha for nearly three years and eventually signed the Doha Agreement with the Taliban.
