Nicaragua Appoints Ambassador to Afghanistan

Bayan News – The government of Nicaragua has taken an unprecedented step by appointing its ambassador to China as a non-resident ambassador to Afghanistan as well.

The AFP news agency reported last night (June 22) that Nicaragua’s current ambassador to China will manage affairs related to Afghanistan from Beijing.

In a statement by the Nicaraguan government, quoted by Rosario Murillo, the country’s vice president, it states: “We express our gratitude to the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, to that people, to that government, for the blessing they have given to our friend Michael Campbell.”

However, three years after the Taliban regained control of Afghanistan, no country has officially recognized them so far.
