UNICEF Expresses Concern Over Increase in Malnourished Children in Afghanistan

Bayan News – The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) says that nearly 900,000 children in Afghanistan are suffering from malnutrition.

The agency added in a statement on Thursday (July 4) that they have recently treated 234,000 children under the age of five.

UNICEF expressed concern that the number of children under treatment increased by 79% in May compared to April.

According to UNICEF, these children have received medical care at 3,300 health centers across Afghanistan.

However, according to UNICEF’s information, this year it had requested $1.44 billion to support children and youth in Afghanistan, of which only $52 million has been received so far.
