Taliban Announces Carpet Exports Worth $9 Million

Bayan News – The Taliban’s Ministry of Industry and Commerce says that in the first six months of the current year, carpets worth $9 million have been exported to global markets.

Abdul Salam Javed, a spokesman for the ministry, said on Thursday (July 18) that Afghan carpets have been exported to countries such as Austria, India, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Australia, Italy, China, and Turkey.

The Taliban trade official stated that the current Afghan government has provided the necessary facilities for carpet exporters to export carpets outside the country.

He said: “During the first six months of 2024, a total of 2.4 million kilograms of carpets worth $8.7 million have been exported to countries around the world.”

However, some carpet producers have called for the establishment of carpet exhibitions outside of Afghanistan, believing that such programs will further facilitate production and job creation.
